What are the requirements for joining the worship choir?
There are only three requirements to join: 1) Love the Lord, 2) Enjoy Music, and 3) Be a member of What are the requirements for joining the celebration orchestra?
The orchestra is for High School students through adults with a basic level of musicianship on their chosen instrument.
What are the age requirements for choir and orchestra? Adult choir is open to anyone ages 16 – 116. The orchestra is open to High School students through adults.
What is the policy on attendance? Members of the choir, orchestra, and worship team must commit themselves to regular Wednesday rehearsals. If you are in town, please make rehearsals a priority. Sunday performances are 9:15 and 11:00, and it is preferred that members perform at both services. If a member must miss a rehearsal or a worship service, they should contact the music office, or fill out the absence form on this website.
How do I join the choir or orchestra? Come by rehearsal any Wednesday evening at 6 pm. We'll have music ready for you. When do the choir, orchestra, and worship team perform? The choir, orchestra, and worship team are part of the 9:15 and 11:00 worship services, along with different events and concerts throughout the year. The choir and orchestra are also a major part of A Carolina Mountain Christmas Spectacular. Do you have to memorize music? No, it is not necessary to memorize any music for our Sunday worship services. During CMCS, it may be necessary for the choir to memorize a selection of songs.
How do rehearsals work during CMCS season? We will begin introducing Christmas songs in September. We will hold regular Wednesday rehearsals and have additional rehearsals when necessary as we approach performance dates. CMCS evening performances will be on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Monday, with matinee and evening performances on Saturday and Sunday.
What is the dress code for performing? Ladies in the choir and orchestra are asked to wear dress slacks or modest skirts. Skirts must reach below the knee when seated. Shoulders should be covered with modest/appropriate necklines. Guys are asked to wear button down dress or polo shirts and casual or dress slacks.
What costs are involved? There are no costs involved in regular participation in the choir or orchestra. A cost may be involved for special events, such as formal wear for CMCS or a T-shirt purchase for Bele Chere. All music that we perform will be provided for you.
